Forest Brook Middle School has a proud and enduring legacy that stretches back decades, beginning not as a middle school, but as a beacon of educational excellence in the form of Forest Brook High School. Established in the early 1970s, Forest Brook High quickly grew to become a central pillar of the Northeast Houston community, known for its spirited student body, academic promise, and powerhouse athletic and fine arts programs.

Throughout its years as a high school, Forest Brook produced generations of graduates who went on to make a significant impact across the city, state, and nation. The school was especially celebrated for its dynamic marching band, championship sports teams, and passionate educators who poured into their students daily.

Among its distinguished alumni are individuals who have achieved great success in their fields, including NFL athletes like Lamar Lathon and Rodney Thomas, as well as award-winning entertainers such as comedian Billy Sorrells. Their journeys began right here at Forest Brook, where talents were discovered, nurtured, and set in motion toward greatness.

Following a district reorganization and a vision for long-term academic success, the original high school was restructured and transformed into Forest Brook Middle School—continuing the legacy of excellence and pride under a new banner. While the grade levels may have changed, the heart of the school remains the same: a place where young minds are inspired, traditions are honored, and the future is boldly embraced.

Today, affectionately known as "The Brook," Forest Brook Middle School stands as a symbol of resilience and rebirth. Home of the Bulldogs, the school is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders, scholars, artists, and athletes.
